Second day of home because of snow.

detail (left eye)

I have been working on this painting for a long time. It just is in no rush to get done. It has been almost a year of putting actual paint on the canvas. It has been 20 years since I had decided to do the painting. Why some things are finished in a afternoon and why some things take decades is a great mystery.

Today I am making space for some work to get done.

Thinking about my old job.

Me the Factory Worker.

Me the Intellectual going to College.

I miss my days of being a factory worker, 8 years ago. Organizing the stock and running the beast. Going back to school has been enlightening. Big lofty ideas being disused. My brain is so full. I think I want to go paint. Was messing around with the filters on the photo editor. Trying to get some ideas for my next painting. I have a blank canvas to work on. Perhaps I should finish the painting I have started first. We shall see what comes of it all, the paintings, the education, the life.

Mom and Me both about 51

Mom my first post art school portrait.

The image I think I might use for a portrait of me.

2020...and it begins

coffee lady pin

It is the 3rd day of this new decade, things are brewing and not just the coffee or the rain storm.

I am reviewing my notes to see which ones inspire moving forward.

I am going to finish that one painting that I started in 2019.

Also I am going to get some alterations done to my own dam clothing.

Portrait of a Rock Star: A work in progress

It is starting to take a shape that I can be happy with. You can see I am even smiling.

Portrait of a lovely person

I am at it again, about to paint. I have the subject matter all worked out. It is a face that has brought joy, arts & crafts, and understanding to people in East Van, and she has taken her musical skills out of the hood and shared it with people among this fair and big country of ours. I am very grateful to have gotten to know her, even just a little. I have great pride in the people I call friends, they all have mad skills.

...here is sneak peek...

Mia

It was a few years ago I painted this portrait of a good friend. Since I have painted this good friend and her offspring a few time. Every painter should have a muse or two. Thanks Mia for being one of mine.

It took me a long time to get this one done...but I do like how it turned out...in person it is all shiny.

The three paintings I got done this year.

I started the year with these two boys.
Sometime after that I got a little egocentric.
I finished the year with my best brother ever.

Last painting of 2011

This is my good friend. She has been there for me when I have needed her. We have had much fun and found lots of trouble to get into over the years.

And another 12 year old comes along.

Here is my newest painting. This is form an ongoing series of paintings I have done for this family. For the children's fifth and twelfth birthday I have painted them a picture. So far I have done seven birthday pictures I have one more twelve year old painting to do (I have a couple of years before that is due). In their painting I can see what has changed about my style and what has stayed the same. They also have three other paintings of mine. One I did before going to art school and a portrait each of the dad and the mom (my friend since I was eleven) for their wedding and his fortieth. One day I might get it together and make an album of their collection  For now here is child number three "Happy Twelfth Birthday".

Done...finally

I finally got this one done. It was late for Sarah's birthday in July 2010 (the left side) not quite as late for Adam's birthday October 2010 (right side). I love this shot of them. When my brother is laughing the world is good.

Birthday painting...in progress...again

Here is a sneak peek on a painting (diptych) that is now months over due for the birthdays it was intended for. I am making good progress today but will give no grantees that it is going to be done before New Years Eve or Day for that matter. OK so it is just the pallet and the muddy water. I don't want spoil the surprise completely.
